Block and Unblock Services FAQs

General Information

From the Block and Unblock Services page, you can prevent devices on your account from being able to purchase and/or use certain types of messaging and purchasing services. We also provide a list of alternatives to blocking each service to help you make the best choice for your specific needs. There are three types of service blocks:

  • Messaging Blocks: Prevent a device from using all messaging services or block specific types, including multimedia messaging and Premium Messaging.
  • Purchase and Gifting Blocks: Prevent a line on your account from charging third-party apps, virtual goods, services, donations and gift cards to your Liv Cellular bill.
  • Free Services: Choose to opt in or opt out of the Liv Selects program.

Note: Only the Account Owner or Account Manager can block or unblock any of these services.Learn more about account roles.

Prepaid accounts: If you have a prepaid account, the Block and Unblock Services page will not be available. However you can still block Premium Messaging. Refer to the My Liv for Prepaid FAQs for steps on blocking Premium Messaging and an alternative way to block calls and messages.

Some services let you make purchases that will be charged to your account. Others use the data allowance included with your plan. If you want to prevent someone on your account from using these services, you can choose to block them to help avoid unexpected purchase or overage charges on your bill.
You can block services online in My Liv if you’re on a standard monthly plan like the new Liv Plan. If you have a prepaid account, the Block and Unblock Services page isn’t available but you can still block Premium Messaging. Refer to the My Liv for Prepaid FAQs for steps on blocking Premium Messaging and an alternative way to block calls and messages.

To block a service:

  1. Go to the Block and Unblock Services page in My Liv on your smartphone, tablet or computer.
  2. If you have multiple lines on your account, select the line you want to set the service block(s) for.Note: The device that has an inverted red triangle beneath it is the selected device.
  3. Select the service(s) you want to block.
  4. Click Continue.
  5. Click OK in the confirmation window.

You’ve successfully blocked a service.

To unblock a service:

  1. Go to the Block and Unblock Services page in My Liv on your smartphone, tablet or computer.
  2. If you have multiple lines on your account, select the line that you will be unblocking service(s) for.Note: The device that has a white background behind it at the top of the page is the selected device.
  3. Select the service(s) you want to unblock by un-checking the box.
  4. Click Continue.

You’ve successfully unblocked a service.

The service blocks will go into effect immediately after you block them.
